“The conquest of blindness is on the threshold of great discoveries… For significant and long term progress in this field I know of no better place in Australia than the Lions Eye Institute… The whole world will benefit from its future accomplishments.”
Professor Charles Schepens, Retina Foundation, Harvard Medical School - the largest eye research organisation in the world.

Remaining at the forefront of scientific endeavour in the fight to prevent blindness requires more than just the dedication and commitment of LEI’s world class scientists and researchers.

LEI is proud of its track record in attracting competitive research grants from Australian and international organisations.  Owing to the very expensive nature of medical research, however, these grants alone will not meet the full costs of LEI's research activities.  Support from the wider community is vital to LEI's research, clinical, training and community service efforts.
