Professor Angus Turner, as Director of Lions Outback Vision, is actively involved in the delivery of specialist outreach services to remote and Indigenous communities in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Goldfields, Great Southern and South West Regions. His vision is that all Australians should be able to access comprehensive eye health care services in an equitable and culturally appropriate manner irrespective of where they live. He leads a team of eye health and administrative professionals, and, through collaboration with local communities, develops innovative and sustainable models of service delivery for remote communities. Professor Turner’s additional focus is on building the capacity of local health care providers and planners.
He is a Professor at The University of Western Australia (UWA), and a researcher and a clinical lecturer for the Rural Clinical School at UWA and Notre Dame. Among his many achievements, Professor Turner was named the 2019 Western Australian in the Professions category.
