Born with a bomb: going blind from Leber hereditary optic neuropathy.

As part of the University of Western Australia’s Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series, our very own managing director Professor David Mackey will be giving the lecture Born with a bomb: going blind from Leber hereditary optic neuropathy.

Professor David Mackey as Managing Director of the Lions Eye Institute’s also oversees the Clinical Genetics and Epidemiology department. He has spent 25 years studying the genetics of the optic nerve, with Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy the topic of his doctoral thesis.  David is also Director and Professor of Ophthalmology at UWA’s Centre for Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
