RVO Study

RVO Study

The Retinal Vein Occlusion Study: Branch vs Hemicentral.

The Lions Eye Institute is seeking patients who have a Retinal Vein Occlusion. We are examining and comparing the development of collateral vessels in both Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) or a Hemicentral Retinal Vein Occlusion (hemi-CRVO) in patients who have recently been treated or are being treated with eye injections (anti-VEGF treatment) for these eye conditions. We will use optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) to examine the collateral vessels that have developed around the blocked vein. OCT-A is a new non-invasive imaging technique that allows us to examine the blood vessels in the retina without the use of dyes. The study has one visit. We will use your medical records to determine the number of eye injections you have had during your treatment. We would like to establish whether there is a link between the development of effective collateral circulation and number of eye injections required to treat these conditions.
