WA Showcase on Epidermolysis Bullosa 2026

Date: Friday 23 October 2026
Location: Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia, and online

In the lead-up to Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Awareness Week, we are proud to present an educational event featuring Professor Fiona Wood AO and other leading experts exploring current and emerging approaches to EB care and treatment, including:

  • Transformative therapies and research, including personalised gene patches, RNA-based treatments and emerging gene-editing approaches.
  • Advances in wound and treatment delivery, including innovative approaches using patients’ own cells and new ways of delivering gene-corrected therapies.
  • EB and the eyes, exploring the challenges faced by people with EB and the potential of emerging treatments.
  • Clinical care in Western Australia, including EB services and the specific care needs of children with EB.
  • Supportive care and lived experience, with families and community members sharing their experiences and perspectives on caring for children with EB.
  • Community partnerships, including the impact of initiatives such as Soft Love Australia.

Presenters include Professor Fiona Wood AO, Kristin Ham (Chair and Convenor), Dr Daniel Roshandel from the Lions Eye Institute, Linley Worth, and Simone Baird from DEBRA Australia, with further expert presenters to be announced shortly.

The event will also provide plenty of opportunities to ask questions, connect with EB specialists and researchers, and meet other members of the EB community.

We’re excited to share the latest developments in EB research and care, while also making space for the experiences and voices of the people and families living with EB every day.

We look forward to seeing you in Perth!
