2022 Spring Vision News is out now!

Vision News is the Lions Eye Institute’s bi-annual newsletter showcasing the groundbreaking work being done by our medical research teams, as well as updates from around the Institute.

In the Spring 2022 edition of Vision News:

  • Read about a world-first clinical trial being conducted by Associate Professor Fred Chen and our Clinical Trials Centre. Together, they are testing a new treatment for Stargardt disease which is the most common single gene disease of the eye.
  • Meet our two new research Chairs, Professor Allison McKendrick and Professor Andrew Turpin. Due to commence in November this year, Professors McKendrick and Turpin will bring unparalleled experience to research at the Institute.
  • Learn how clinicians and researchers at the Institute are working together to slow an alarming rise in early onset myopia. Worldwide, children as young as six years old are being diagnosed with myopia (short-sightedness), which can lead to blindness if left untreated.
  • Meet some of our Lions Eye Institute community supporters, and read about how they are helping to advance sight-saving medical research. Find out how you too can become a community supporter.
