The Lions Eye Institute is proud to celebrate Professor Allison McKendrick, UWA Chair in Optometry Research, who has been honoured with the University of Western Australia Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Research Award.
| Professor McKendrick received the award, along with the 2025 School of Health and Clinical Sciences Senior Researcher Award, in December of 2025 and was recognised at the School’s Prize Giving Ceremony in May 2026.
The prestigious award recognises outstanding researchers whose work has made a significant impact both locally and globally. Professor McKendrick’s career exemplifies this commitment to excellence. Her research in vision and clinical visual neuroscience has not only advanced understanding in the field but has also transformed research methodologies internationally, creating a paradigm shift in vision science. |

“This is a tremendous achievement and thoroughly well-deserved. By pushing the boundaries of knowledge in our field and reshaping how research is conducted around the world, Professor McKendrick’s contributions have had a profound global impact. We congratulate her and are very proud to have her as part of the Lions Eye Institute,” said Dr Glen Power, Managing Director of the Institute.
| The ceremony held in May 2026 also recognised UWA School of Health and Clinical Sciences students Julia Lawrence and Armin Nourdel, who won the Lions Eye Institute’s Research Award.
“It was wonderful to see the next generation of vision scientists recognised at the ceremony. The calibre of emerging talent coming through gives us great confidence in the future of vision research, and we look forward to seeing the contributions they will make to the field,” said Dr Power, who also presented the award. |
